Nigeria will need an estimated $10 billion in investment over the next decade to secure 24-hour electricity nationwide, according to Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja, Adelabu emphasized the need for private sector involvement to address the country’s significant power challenges, as government funding alone will not be sufficient.
“Achieving a 24-hour power supply within 10 years requires around $10 billion, which the government alone cannot provide,” Adelabu stated. He stressed the importance of partnering with the private sector through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) while keeping a government stake in the sector.
This investment push aims to bring lasting solutions to Nigeria’s power supply issues, supporting economic growth and stability in the energy sector.
