World leaders gathered in Baku, Azerbaijan, for the COP29 summit, which began on November 11 and runs through November 22, with a shared mission to turn climate pledges into tangible, real-world impacts.

COP29 marks the 29th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres addressed political leaders, issuing a call to action to accelerate climate efforts.

Guterres emphasized the urgent need to transform climate commitments into concrete measures to combat the global climate crisis.

He underscored the importance of decisive action to strengthen climate targets and scale up the implementation of sustainable solutions.

In a statement posted on social media, Guterres urged leaders, “It’s time to deliver.”

His remarks highlight the pressing need for international cooperation to meet the Paris Agreement’s target of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

With the climate crisis intensifying, COP29 has become a critical moment for the world to transition from promises to measurable actions that will drive the shift toward a low-carbon, resilient global economy.
