Nigerian Football Star, Ahmed Musa believes that the newly appointed Chairman of the NSC, Malam Shehu Dikko, has what it takes to advance Nigerian sports.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, October 23, scrapped the hitherto Federal Ministry of Sports and announced the return of the NSC which was scrapped in 2016 by the then Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung.
In his congratulatory message, the most capped Super Eagles player said Dikko’s wealth of experience in sports administration, especially the game of football is the reason for the overwhelming acceptance of his appointment.
He said as a marketing guru, the new Chairman of the NSC is the most suitable person to earnestly drive the renewed hope agenda of President Tinubu in the sector that is inarguably the most potent tool that has continued to unite the heterogeneous country.
“The appointment of Shehu Dikko didn’t come to me as a surprise because he personifies everything that is required to reposition sports in Nigeria.
“Considering the fact that sports development is capital intensive, and the government has so many other contending issues to deal with amidst limited resources, only a vibrant young man with Dikko’s international exposure and business acumen can transform the sector into a lucrative business.
“Having had the opportunity to relate closely with Dikko while he served as NFF 2nd vice-president, I know his passion for sports especially football, and I have no iota of doubt in my mind that he will put this opportunity to good use by working closely with genuine stakeholders to take sports to higher heights.
