The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has urged newly promoted officers to see their promotion as a call for increased dedication and commitment to the ideals of the corps.
NSCDC’s Commandant in Akwa Ibom, Bashar Hussaini, said this on Monday during the decoration of 95 newly promoted officers in Uyo.
Mr Hussaini reminded the officers not to forget that enormous responsibilities accompanied promotions, which could only be justified by increased dedication.
“Promotion is not only an acknowledgement of hard work but also a call to uphold a higher standard of leadership.
“The corps, as an important component of the nation’s security architecture, is specifically tasked with protecting critical national assets and infrastructure against vandalism.
“Coordinating private security companies, response/management of disaster and providing assistance to other relevant agencies. You will be assigned new responsibilities, and I expect you to show capacity and mentor your subordinates,” Mr Hussaini said.
Three assistant commandants were elevated to deputy commandants, and eight chief superintendents were decorated as assistant commandants.
