Nigerian Actress and Skit Maker, Kemi Ikuseedun, famously known as ‘Mummy Wa’, has spoken openly about her experiences with sexual harassment within the Nollywood industry.

In a recent interview on the WithChude Podcast hosted by Chude Jideonwo, she candidly shared the pressures she faced from filmmakers while trying to build her career, highlighting the prevalence of unwanted sexual advances.

Mummy Wa, who rose to fame through her appearances in popular skits alongside Comedian Mr. Macaroni, revealed the harsh reality behind the scenes.

“A lot of people are asking for things I cannot do,” she said, describing the emotional toll of constant demands that often feel like prerequisites for success.

“I’m already coming from a place where they tell me, ‘This thing will not work.’ How many people do I want to sleep with?” she questioned.

She further noted that even those who succumb to such demands aren’t guaranteed success.

“You might sleep with somebody in the industry and still not get the role you were hoping for,” Mummy Wa remarked, emphasizing the uncertain outcomes for actresses who comply.

She also pointed out that these pressures affect women across all body types and appearances.

“Even the slim ones, who don’t have much, are still being asked for things,” she observed.

In her message, Mummy Wa underscored that no woman in Nollywood is immune from exploitation, yet she remains firm in her refusal to give in.

“No woman is free. No woman is immune. But I can’t do it,” she declared.
