Tinubu Heads to Saudi Arabia for Arab-Islamic Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday to attend the highly anticipated Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, marking a significant diplomatic move amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The summit, scheduled to begin on November 11, 2024, is hosted at the invitation of Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu will use the platform to champion Nigeria’s call for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, urging regional powers to seek a peaceful resolution.

Onanuga disclosed that Nigeria’s position advocates for a two-state solution as a long-term path to peace in the region.

Tinubu’s entourage includes key officials: Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Information Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and National Intelligence Agency Director General Amb. Mohammed Mohammed.

Following the summit, Tinubu will return to Abuja, bringing insights from the pivotal gathering aimed at fostering regional stability.
