The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has pledged strong opposition to any actions that could prevent the payment of workers’ salaries in Rivers State.

NLC National President Joe Ajaero reaffirmed this commitment during the NLC National Executive Council meeting in Rivers State on Friday, emphasizing that the organization will fight any attempts to disrupt workers’ payments.

Ajaero also addressed the judiciary, cautioning against decisions that could create instability in the state.

He urged the courts to act responsibly, as recent legal actions have raised concerns, including a Federal High Court ruling that restricted the Central Bank of Nigeria and other financial institutions from allowing the Rivers State Government access to its state allocations.

The NLC president assured workers that the Congress would not remain passive if their welfare was jeopardized, stating the NLC’s dedication to advocating for workers’ rights and financial security.
