The Nigerian government has officially announced plans to host the inaugural Nigeria International Airshow in April 2025.

This event, set to take place in Lagos, aims to bring together global aviation leaders, experts, and visionaries, with the goal of driving growth and innovation within the Nigerian aviation sector.

Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, shared details of the event during a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja.

He noted that this will be Nigeria’s first international airshow, marking a significant milestone for the nation.

“We all know about airshows worldwide; they gather all stakeholders in aviation and they are in a place for exchanging modern ideas. Some of the biggest names in aviation will come to Nigeria, displaying their services and products,” Keyamo said.

He added that the airshow will project Nigeria as a prime destination for aviation development in Africa.

Preparation for the airshow has been underway for over a year, with considerations given to space and facilities to accommodate this large-scale event.

Keyamo emphasized that the airshow would serve as a platform to promote policies like the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) and the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), both of which aim to facilitate free trade and ease of movement across African nations.

“Our aspiration is clear: to position Nigeria as a central hub for aviation in Africa, attracting investment, fostering partnerships, and driving sustainable development across the continent. This groundbreaking event signifies a new era for Nigerian and African aviation,” the minister said.

The event is being organized in partnership with Nigerian International Airshow, led by CEO Bria Okonkwo Williams, who assured Nigerians of a successful event.

She stated that between 150 and 200 companies are expected to participate, expressing confidence that the airshow will do the nation proud.
