I Won’t Wish Amorim Well Over Move to Man United –Bernardo

Bernardo Silva has admitted he cannot wish Ruben Amorim well in his potential next role at Manchester United but believes the club would be securing a top-tier coach.

Silva, a former Benfica academy player with close ties to Sporting Lisbon—where his mother and many friends are passionate supporters—recognizes the impact Amorim has had, describing Sporting as a “machine” under his leadership.

Reflecting on his own past performance, where he scored twice in a 5-0 victory in this stadium two years ago, the Portugal international anticipates a far tougher challenge for Manchester City on Tuesday, facing a Sporting team currently boasting a perfect record in their league.

“Before he arrived, Sporting hadn’t won the league in nearly 20 years, but with him, the president, and the sporting director all aligned, they’ve achieved incredible results,” Bernardo commented.

“When there’s competence and unity, the chances of success rise significantly. Tactically, he’s exceptional—the way he prepares his teams is impressive. Sporting are a big machine right now. I can only offer praise, as they’re dominating the Portuguese league. It’s going to be very difficult to beat them.”
