Flying Eagles Head Coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has expressed his willingness to give foreign-based players the opportunity to join the team for the upcoming Africa U-20 Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Following Nigeria’s recent victory at the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Lome, Togo, the Flying Eagles are now shifting focus to the U-20 AFCON, set to be hosted in South Africa early next year.
For the WAFU tournament, Zubairu selected only local players. However, he now plans to open the door for players based abroad to be part of the U-20 AFCON squad.
“We will not hinder their participation and are committed to selecting those with the necessary skills,” Zubairu stated during a meeting with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, in Ilorin.
