The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a tanker driver, Afeez Adegbola, 47, for allegedly diverting 10,000 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) intended for the NNPC mega station in Osogbo.

Commandant Sotiyo Igbalawole confirmed that Adegbola was apprehended Friday night in Ikirun, caught red-handed offloading fuel at a private filling station.

The driver, who loaded 40,000 liters at Pinnacle Distribution Depot in Lagos, reportedly delivered only 30,000 liters to the NNPC station in Osogbo and diverted the remaining fuel to TEMPOLA station in Ikirun.

Acting on a tip-off, NSCDC operatives tracked the tanker and intercepted Adegbola as he attempted to unload the diverted fuel.

Adegbola confessed that he was directed by his company to retain 10,000 liters for private sale, violating Section 1 of the Petroleum Production and Distribution (Anti-Sabotage) Act.

NSCDC officials have vowed to prosecute the suspects, warning stakeholders to avoid sabotage.

Commandant Igbalawole called on NNPCL managers nationwide to collaborate with NSCDC in tackling such illegal practices.
