Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after denying allegations of a N15 million bribe to drop money laundering charges.
The controversial social media personality refuted claims made in a viral audio recording, which alleged he paid EFCC officials to avoid prosecution.
Bobrisky was detained on Thursday evening at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam en route to London.
He later informed his followers on social media about the detention, claiming he had sustained injuries during the process.
Following his arrest, Bobrisky was taken to EFCC headquarters in Abuja for questioning regarding the alleged bribe.
In an official statement, he denied any exchange of money or solicitation of a bribe by EFCC officials and challenged Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who released the recording, to provide evidence of the allegations.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed Bobrisky’s release but declined further comment.
A source close to the case emphasized that Bobrisky maintained no bribe was offered and no EFCC official requested payment.
