Popular social media influencer, Martins Otse, known as Verydarkman (VDM), has been detained by the Nigeria Police Force.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed this on Thursday night via a Facebook post, noting that the influencer was detained after attending a police invitation.
Adeyanju commented, “Our client, VDM, has been detained after honoring a police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has been consistent in saying the Nigerian Police are our friends, even when we all know they are not.”
The detention may be linked to a recent viral video in which VDM appeared wearing a police uniform.
Last week, the police condemned the unauthorized use of its uniforms and equipment, with spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi announcing an investigation into the video.
