The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, representatives from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), the Managing Director/CEO of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and officials from Distribution Companies (DisCos) and Generation Companies (GenCos) held an interactive session today with the Senate Committee on Power at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
The session, held on October 29, 2024, addressed key challenges in Nigeria’s power sector, including electricity supply issues, tariff concerns, and operational inefficiencies.
Discussions centered on improving collaboration among the stakeholders, reviewing recent tariff adjustments, and ensuring sustainable power delivery to Nigerians.
The committee emphasized the need for effective policies to tackle transmission bottlenecks, improve service delivery, and stabilize electricity pricing, given the recent 250% hike that has drawn public criticism.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by the legislature to engage with industry players and regulators to resolve systemic issues and ensure reliable, affordable power for households and businesses across the country.
