Emphasizing the essential role of security in fostering peace and development, the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Armed Forces for their unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity, stability, and progress.
Tinubu, who gave the commendation during the launch of the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund at a State House ceremony in Abuja.
Launching the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund in honour of Nigeria’s military personnel and their contributions to national security, he expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces for their dedication as the nation’s primary line of defense, even as he praised their recent successes in combating security threat.
The launch was accompanied by significant donations, including N500 million from the Executive arm of government, announced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.
Additional donations were made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who pledged N200 million on behalf of the National Assembly, and Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who committed N50 million on behalf of the Service Chiefs and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. These gestures demonstrate the government’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s military personnel.
The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is annually observed on January 15 to commemorate the nation’s departed heroes. This year’s celebration honours their memory and reaffirm the government’s commitment to ending insurgency and promoting national security.
