On Friday, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office announced that a building without a toilet in the state’s Agege region had been sealed off.
Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, stated on his X account that the goal is to achieve a sustainable environment.
“LSWMO in continued demonstration of its commitment to a sustainable environment, proper sanitation and public health safety in the state has sealed off a residential property on Adedosu Street, Otubu, Agege.
“This was following the receipt of a public complaint from concerned residents.
“The bungalow with over 10 rooms has no toilet facilities but dilapidated pit latrines filled with exposed faecal matter,” he said.
While commending General Manager Adefemi Afolabi for leading the compliance team to the property, he stated that the Lagos State Government could not afford another cholera outbreak.
“Citizens are further advised to embrace proper sanitation and hygiene practices to enhance public health and environmental sustainability,” he said.
