Engineers at the Kwara State University’s (KWASU) Centre for Sustainable Energy have successfully converted a petrol-powered vehicle to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), marking another innovative achievement for the institution.
Accompanied by other council members, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, inspected the vehicle and lauded the university’s initiative to explore sustainable alternatives to petrol.
According to Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, Vice-Chancellor of KWASU, the conversion demonstrates the university’s commitment to addressing societal challenges through practical solutions. The university has also converted scrap petrol engines to electricity-powered vehicles.
The engineers highlighted the benefits of CNG, including lower fuel costs, increased fuel efficiency, reduced maintenance costs, and longer engine life due to cleaner fuel.
This achievement reinforces KWASU’s dedication to sustainable environments and innovative solutions.
