The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has stated that no section of the state has been left out of his administration’s developmental projects under the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and the 2025 Budget.
According to him, projects were dispersed fairly across the three Senatorial Districts in accordance with the 2024 budget.
Abiodun made this known during the town hall meeting on the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and 2025 Budget held on Wednesday at the Bisi Rodipe Event Center in Ijebu-Ode.
The governor thanked all stakeholders for their contributions during deliberations on the 2024 budget and announced that his administration has approved the rehabilitation of certain important highways in the Ogun East Senatorial District.
According to the governor, the roads are as follows: Imoro-Imegun-Opopo, Igbeba-Eid prayer ground to Prison, Imoru road in Ijebu-Ode, and Odelewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo.
The governor, who was represented by the Chief Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, stated that, despite the fiscal constraints on its resources, his administration has begun construction of over 64 kilometers of rural roads throughout the state.
Abiodun stated that the construction of the rural roads is a critical step in his administration’s continued commitment to expanding infrastructural development for simple rural access and increasing agricultural output in the state.
He said, “In continuation of our infrastructural development, our administration recently approved the reconstruction of the Imoro-Imegun-Opopo road in Ijebu-North-East, Igbeba road to Eid praying ground to Prison, Imoru road in Ijebu-Ode, and Odelewu-Ladeshi-Ishiwo road.
“Despite the fiscal pressures and increased government spending, infrastructural investments to promote rural development and the economy have equally gained attention.
“Our administration is constructing 64 kilometres of rural roads in select local government areas in the state, including within the Ijebu division”.
He revealed that his administration, in partnership with the Lagos and Oyo State governments, had purchased an additional 25 patrol vans and surveillance drones to monitor activity on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The governor stated that the building and imminent completion of the Gateway International Agro-cargo Airport would position the state as the sub-region’s key logistics hub, leveraging the Africa Quality Assurance Center established by the Africa Export-Import Bank.
Abiodun stated that his administration had built over 600 kilometers of roads throughout the state, with 243.3 kilometers finished in the Ogun East Senatorial District.
The governor listed some of the completed roads, including Chris-Ogunbajo-Erunwon Road, Palace Road, Ijebu-Itele, Club Road, Balogun Kuku Road, Ijebu-Ode, and the reconstruction of internal roads within Olabisi Onabanjo University, adding that work has also begun on the double self-culvert on Alaran River, Isiwo, Ijebu-Ode, Liberty Road, Oru, and the Awokoya road in Ijebu-Ode.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, revealed that 377 inputs were received during the last town hall meetings held in 2023, with 90%, or 340 inputs, included in the budget, while promising that the remaining 40 inputs would be included in the 2025 budget and the MTEF.
Olabimtan further revealed that projects were implemented equally across the district’s six local government areas, inviting Senatorial District residents to provide feedback on budget planning and implementation.
In their separate statements, the Gbegande of Ososa, Oba Toye Alatishe, and the Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdul-Rasaq Adenugba, praised the current administration for preserving the town hall meeting.
The royal fathers stated that the meeting provided an opportunity for the people to provide feedback on the budget, and that monarchs in the district will continue to support the vision and goal of the current administration in the state.
