Kogi Governor Swears in Council Chairmen

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has sworn in newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen of the 21 local government areas, charging them to prioritize the welfare and development of their constituents. At the swearing-in ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Lokoja, Governor Ododo emphasized the importance of sustaining grassroots development through projects and programs that improve lives.

He urged the new chairmen to ensure security, key into his administration’s signature programs in health, agriculture, social welfare and empowerment, and promote inclusivity in decision-making. Governor Ododo stressed that local government administration should be felt by the people, aligning with his policy of bringing governance closer to the populace.

The governor also called for transparency and accountability, emphasizing that their election is an opportunity to justify local government autonomy by prioritizing initiatives with direct positive impact on grassroots communities.

Hon. Tosin Olokun, Chairman of Yagba West Local Government, responded on behalf of his counterparts, pledging to complement the state government’s efforts through transformative projects and unity among residents, regardless of political differences.
