The New Youth Front for Atiku (NYFA) has dismissed recent comments made by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, labeling him a “nincompoop grappling with midlife crises.” In a strongly worded statement, NYFA spokesperson Prof. Gold Emmanuel stated that despite Wike’s “delusional ramblings,” the group remains fully committed to supporting Atiku Abubakar’s potential candidacy in 2027.

“We spare no nano second on a nincompoop,” Emmanuel remarked, adding that the youth movement is solely focused on resetting Nigeria with an Atiku-led administration. He emphasized that the group would not be distracted by Wike’s “delusions,” and instead continues to rally support for the former vice president, who they believe represents the future of Nigerian leadership.

The statement from NYFA came in response to Wike’s claim that Atiku Abubakar has lost political relevance, following his defeats in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections. During a public appearance, Wike stated, “Nigerians have rejected Atiku,” pointing out that his repeated failures at the polls reflect a lack of public support.

Wike went further, criticizing Atiku’s claims about election losses in Rivers State. “We never contested the local government elections. Did we pick forms? I hear Atiku Abubakar say, ‘Oh, they have rejected me in Rivers State.’ Okay, assuming, though not conceding, that he has lost many times, Nigerians have also rejected him.”

Wike’s remarks have sparked tension within political circles, especially among Atiku’s supporters, as the minister continues to position himself as a vocal critic of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leadership. The NYFA has vowed to remain steadfast in its mission to build momentum for Atiku’s return to the political scene in 2027, underscoring that Wike’s comments hold no weight in the broader political landscape.

As the political jostling intensifies ahead of the next election cycle, the back-and-forth between Wike and Atiku’s camp signals a deepening rift within the PDP, with factions gearing up for a potential showdown over the party’s future direction.
