Kaduna State Security Council has imposed a movement restriction across the state from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, ahead of the local government elections. This measure aims to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections, where councillors will be elected into 255 wards and chairmen into 23 local government councils.
According to Samuel Aruwan, Overseeing Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, vehicular movement, commercial activities and other related operations that may hinder law and order will be halted during the restriction period. However, individuals performing essential duties are exempt, provided they possess proper identification and clearance.
Aruwan urged residents to refrain from actions disrupting public peace or hindering smooth election conduct. Security agencies have been deployed to enforce compliance, and the public is encouraged to report threats to law and order to these agencies rather than taking matters into their own hands.
For concerns or reports, the Kaduna State Security Operations Room can be contacted through 09034000060 or 08170189999. The state government emphasizes its commitment to maintaining peace and security, taking necessary steps to preserve these values.
