For many Nigerians, flooding has become an unpleasant reality because they fear that their homes and means of subsistence would be destroyed with every intense downpour. Regretfully, it appears that things are becoming worse every year.
More least 300 people were killed and over 600,000 were homeless by floods in 2022, which also destroyed entire communities and farmlands. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has warned of additional possible floods as rainfall keeps rising and urged officials and civilians to remain alert.
