The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Senator Bala Mohammed, made this statement during his visit to the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt.

Governor Mohammed praised Fubara for his democratic leadership and strategic governance at the local government level, emphasizing that Fubara has upheld democratic values despite challenges. He noted that the Rivers State governor has shown an inclusive approach by allowing political participation from various parties to ensure effective governance.

“Of course, he is still with us. He’s still a PDP man, and I have come, on behalf of the Governors, to show solidarity for his proactive democratic instincts,” Mohammed said, adding that Fubara remains a committed member of the PDP even though local government officials from other parties hold office in the state.

Meanwhile, the PDP national leadership has scheduled congresses to elect party leaders in different zones of the country. Congresses for the North East, South East, and South South zones will take place on February 22, 2025, while those for the North Central and South West are set for March 22, 2025. This was confirmed by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, in a statement.

Despite the mixed political landscape in Rivers State, the PDP Governors’ Forum continues to stand behind Fubara, recognizing his efforts to deepen democracy and ensure governance across party lines.
