Chief George Udagba, former President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), has urged the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA) to establish vocational training centers in the Niger Delta region. Speaking at the NDCCITMA sensitization program in Umuahia, Abia State, Udagba emphasized that these centers would help address poverty and food insufficiency in the region by providing skills training in areas like underwater welding, gas welding, and agriculture.

Udagba advised NDCCITMA to partner with business conglomerates to establish standard workshops and certification programs, which would reduce the country’s reliance on expatriates from other African countries. He noted that NACCIMA, as the umbrella body for policy advocacy and leadership, is prepared to offer guidance and valuable advice to NDCCITMA.

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), highlighted that the establishment of NDCCITMA aims to support struggling business entrepreneurs. Represented by Mr. Azubuike Nwaubani, NDDC Director in charge of the Abia State Office, Ogbuku encouraged small and medium enterprises, formal and informal business communities, and individuals seeking financial support to register with the Chamber of Commerce.

Ambassador Idaere Gogo Ogan, Chairman of NDCCITMA, commended NDDC’s leadership for promoting the Chamber of Commerce. NDCCITMA has initiated bilateral talks with MSMEs, incubation centers, academics, professional bodies, and trade groups to foster development partnerships with the Commission.
