Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that the missile strike on Israel was carried out to protect Iran’s interests and citizens, warning that it was just “a portion of our power.” He added that the strike was intended to demonstrate that while Iran is not seeking conflict, it will stand firmly against threats.

Pezeshkian’s remarks were shared on X, and he also issued a warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him not to provoke conflict with Iran. The strike came in response to ongoing tensions between Israel and Lebanon-based Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also commented on the situation, stating in Hebrew that “the blows against Israel will become stronger and more painful,” referring to the conflict with the “Zionist regime.” This followed Israel’s ground operation across its northern border into Lebanon, which targeted Hezbollah fighters.

The tensions have escalated since an Israeli airstrike killed Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah last Friday, significantly impacting the group’s leadership.
