Ronke Adeyemi, a distinguished lawyer from Ekiti State, has made history as the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) from the Ilorin branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) in Kwara State. This milestone achievement comes after she was inaugurated as one of the latest set of SANs by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.

Adeyemi’s impressive background includes being a product of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), where she graduated before being called to the Bar in 1993. She has been practicing law in Ilorin since 1995, demonstrating her dedication and commitment to the legal profession.

Throughout her career, Adeyemi has held various leadership positions, including Vice Chairman of the NBA’s Ilorin branch from 2007 to 2009 and Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Kwara State branch, from 2014 to 2017. Her expertise also extends to serving as a member of the Judicial Panel of Enquiry on the EndSARS protests in 2020 and as a member of the NBA’s national executive committee (NEC) between 2020 and 2022.

Currently, Adeyemi serves as the President of the Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA), a position she is also the first female to hold in the state. This accomplishment underscores her exceptional leadership skills and contributions to the legal and business communities.

It’s worth noting that Adeyemi’s achievement is not only a testament to her individual excellence but also a milestone for women in the legal profession in Nigeria. Folake Solanke was the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, conferred in 1981.
