The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1 a public holiday to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement on Saturday, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, said that the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the government.
The minister congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad, commending their resilience and dedication. Dr. Tunji-Ojo also expressed appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigerian citizens, assuring them that their efforts will not be in vain.
He reiterated the need for reflection on the “labour of our heroes past” and emphasized the importance of unity in building a prosperous Nigeria. While wishing Nigerians a happy Independence Day, he encouraged them to remain committed to nation-building.
