The Sokoto State Government has approved a budget of N1.1 billion to purchase motorized boats and life jackets aimed at boosting safety in 22 flood-prone Local Government Areas (LGAs). The announcement was made by Ibrahim Dade-Adare, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, following a State Executive Council meeting led by Governor Ahmed Aliyu.

Dade-Adare noted that the equipment would be distributed to the LGAs most impacted by recent floods, with Dange-Shuni being the only LGA unaffected. He added that the initiative follows recommendations from a committee set up to address flooding issues in the state.

Additionally, the state government has allocated N565.2 million to provide rice to the poor and vulnerable and N149.8 million for the completion of a terminal block at Alu Garage.
