President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as he celebrates his 80th birthday on September 25, 2024.
In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Tinubu praised the Ibadan monarch for his lifetime of service, leadership, and dedication to the people of Nigeria.
Oba Rashidi Ladoja, an accomplished businessman, former Governor of Oyo State, and Senator during the Third Republic, has had a storied career in both business and politics. His contributions to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria at large were widely acknowledged by the President, who lauded him as an “astute politician” committed to justice, equality, and the cause of a greater Nigeria.
Elevated to the prestigious position of a beaded-crown Oba by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, on August 12, 2024, Oba Rashidi’s ascension as a key figure in Ibadanland marks yet another milestone in his illustrious life. His transition from Otun Olubadan to his current royal status was noted as a testament to his leadership and standing in the community.
President Tinubu expressed his personal gratitude to Oba Ladoja for the friendship and support they have shared over the years. The President fondly recalled their time together in the Senate during the Third Republic, where their paths first crossed. Since then, their relationship has been built on mutual respect and shared ideals for the progress of Nigeria.
