Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has weighed in on Anthony Joshua’s surprising defeat at Wembley Stadium, where the former heavyweight champion was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in the fifth round on September 21, 2024. Joshua later attributed the loss to key mistakes he made during the fight.
Edochie, an avid fan of the British-Nigerian boxer, took to his Instagram page to express his views on the match. He suggested that Joshua might be losing his drive for professional boxing.
“No disrespect to Anthony Joshua, but it seems like boxing has tired him out,” Edochie wrote. “Throughout the build-up to the match, it didn’t seem like he took it seriously. I’m still a fan of AJ, but this defeat really hurt me. It hurt deeply.”
Despite his criticism, Edochie reiterated his support for Joshua, acknowledging the emotional impact of the unexpected loss.
