The Kwara State Government has announced the immediate closure of the Post Office-Emir’s Road in Ilorin to commence rehabilitation and upgrade works as part of its ongoing urban renewal projects. The initiative, led by Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, aims to improve road infrastructure and enhance economic growth in the state.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Abdulqawiy Olododo, the government urged road users to use alternative routes while the project is underway to ensure public safety and smooth travel.
For vehicles approaching from Maraba, the Post Office Flyover has been designated as an alternative route, while those coming from Offa Garage are advised to take the Zulu Gambari Road.
“We apologise for any inconveniences this closure will cause and seek the cooperation of the general public during this period,” Olododo said, assuring the public that the closure is in their best interest. He also advised motorists to follow traffic directives and exercise caution while navigating the area.
The government emphasized that the road upgrades are part of its broader efforts to create a more efficient road network within the state.
Olajide Abolarin, the Press Secretary for the Ministry of Works and Transport, echoed the call for understanding from road users, encouraging them to remain patient as the project progresses.
