The Lagos State government has launched its E-Call Up System to manage truck movements and ease congestion in the Lekki-Epe Free Trade Zone corridor. Announced by Transportation Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the system aims to streamline traffic flow, reduce truck wait times, and enhance logistics.
The E-Call Up System is a technology-driven solution to optimize truck scheduling and coordination, preventing severe congestion caused by articulated trucks. It will also improve access to jobs and services, promoting economic growth and business activities.
Initially scheduled for August 1, 2024, the launch was postponed for a smooth implementation. Truck movements will be regulated through designated holding parks, and a ban on peak-hour movements (5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.) will be enforced.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Taskforce, and Police will monitor compliance, ensuring an organized transport system.
