Enviable Transport and DAG Bajaj Auto Nigeria Launch Showroom for CNG-Powered Tricycles to Combat Rising Transportation Costs
As transportation expenses soar in Nigeria, Enviable Transport has partnered with DAG Bajaj Auto Nigeria to launch a showroom dedicated to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tricycles, aimed at easing the financial burden on passengers.
This collaboration seeks to promote the widespread adoption of CNG vehicles as a viable, cost-effective alternative amid the ongoing fuel crisis.
At the showroom’s inauguration in Lagos, Enviable Transport chairman Obinna Iyiegbu, also known as Obi Cubana, emphasized the initiative’s goal of lowering transportation costs for both drivers and passengers. He explained the decision to situate the showroom in Ikorodu, stating, “Our aim is to provide convenient solutions to the transportation needs of the community. This location boasts excellent infrastructure and accessibility, making it an ideal choice.”
CEO of Enviable Transport, Ituma Chukwuemeka, noted the company’s commitment to mitigating the effects of escalating fuel prices in the transport sector. After previously launching electric vehicles in Abuja—where stable electricity and fast charging stations are available—the company is now focusing on CNG tricycles, which present a more economical option. “CNG can save drivers significantly. Where a driver might spend around N900 on petrol daily, switching to CNG can reduce that cost to as little as N240, providing substantial savings for commuters,” Chukwuemeka explained.
Sijesh Radhakrishnan, the business head of DAG Bajaj Two Wheelers in Nigeria, highlighted the company’s leading market presence in the motorcycle and tricycle sectors, holding a 65% share in the motorcycle market. This partnership with Enviable Transport is poised to further transform the transportation landscape with the introduction of CNG-powered tricycles.
