Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, alongside Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, has denied allegations of announcing collated results from the state’s collation office.

Obaseki defended his early morning visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office on Sunday, stating that the visit was prompted by delays in the collation of results for the governorship election. Speaking during a press conference, monitored by *Vanguard Online* on Channels Television, Obaseki clarified that his visit led to INEC’s decision to postpone the collation of results to 10 a.m.

Governor Fintiri also clarified his actions, stating that he did not announce results but merely shared figures from polling units and local government areas, as provided by party agents. He emphasized that he was not attempting to take over INEC’s role in the collation process.

“I did not announce results, I only informed the public of the exact figures from our collation agents that were ongoing before INEC disrupted the process. INEC should be accused of violating the Electoral Act, not me,” Fintiri asserted during the press conference.

The clarification from both governors and the PDP candidate came after accusations that they were interfering with the electoral process.
