The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected internet fraudster accused of confining a young woman at a hotel in Abuja with the intention of using her for money rituals. The suspect, believed to be her boyfriend, was apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

In a statement issued on Thursday, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that the victim was discovered at the Top View Hotel, located in the Wuse district of Abuja. According to the police, the young woman had been confined by her alleged boyfriend, who intended to use her in a ritualistic scheme commonly associated with cybercriminal activities known as “Yahoo Plus.” This dangerous trend involves internet fraudsters combining financial scams with ritual practices in a misguided belief that it will increase their success in defrauding victims.

“The FCT Police Command is currently awaiting the formal handover of the suspect and all involved parties by the NSCDC to commence a thorough and discreet investigation,” SP Adeh stated. She assured the public that the case would be handled with diligence, and further developments would be made available as the investigation unfolds.
