Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Anugbum Onuoha, has the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to present evidence of any wrongdoing in the lead-up to the 2024 gubernatorial election. In a conversation with Channels TV on Friday, Onuoha addressed allegations of bias and his alleged family ties to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, which have sparked controversy in the political arena.
During the interview, Onuoha firmly defended his position and questioned the validity of the accusations. “I want to challenge any political party, let them tell me what I have done wrong,” Onuoha stated. He emphasized that, since his appointment as the REC, no one had raised concerns about his relationship with the minister in question.
“Since last year, nobody complained that I am a cousin to the minister. Of course, I am a cousin to the minister. What we should be talking about at this time is the capacity to conduct the election,” he asserted.
The REC’s statements come amidst rising tension in the Edo State governorship race, with political parties accusing INEC of favoritism and partiality.
