The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced that once the new Electronic Central Motor Registration (e-CMR) system becomes operational, vehicle owners will no longer be required to carry physical documents for verification. The system will allow officers to access all vehicle information digitally.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, shared this update in a statement on X (formerly Twitter). He noted that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is leading this transformation to modernize road safety practices. “With the new E-CMR system, no more stopping to check papers – our officers will be equipped with technology to verify documents in real-time,” Adejobi said.
He added that the e-CMR system offers vehicle owners quick and secure access to their information, eliminating the need for physical paperwork. Additionally, if a registered vehicle is stolen, owners can instantly flag it through their online profile, alerting all field officers nationwide within seconds.
The NPF emphasized that the e-CMR will streamline document verification and improve road safety across the country.
