This message serves to reassure residents about the recent earth tremors felt in the Federal Capital Territory. There is no cause for alarm, as we are closely monitoring the situation.
Our Monitoring Station in Katampe has detected several ground motions, with increased intensity and frequency between September 13 and 16. These tremors are a result of accumulated stress along identified fault lines, with epicenters mainly around Mpape and Katampe.
The tremors recorded so far range from weak to light, posing a very low threat to residents.
We urge everyone to remain calm. Our monitoring systems, including the NGSA Seismic Stations, are continuously tracking these events in real-time to ensure timely alerts. Further updates will be provided as necessary.
