The Kano government has announced plans to build homes for those affected by floods in the state.
Sunusi Bataure, Gov. Abba Yusuf’s communications aide, issued a statement on Thursday.
Kabir-Yusuf revealed this at the weekly state Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the governor said the gesture will help to reduce the consequences of flooding in the state.
He stated that the provision of the houses would greatly assist flood victims in securing adequate housing for their families.
According to him, the state administration is collaborating with the state’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to give food and other necessities to flood victims.
The governor stated that the government would also offer chairs and desks to 220,000 children in basic and post-primary schools during the first phase of the initiative.
While expressing satisfaction with the seamless restart of schools for the 2024/2025 academic year, Kabir-Yusuf promised that his administration will rehabilitate all school facilities in the state.
“In line with the components of the Declaration of Emergency on Education in the state, the government will distribute free uniforms to all primary 1 pupils,” said Kabir-Yusuf in the press release.
The governor invited stakeholders to work together to achieve the state’s educational goals.
