A US magistrate judge, Robyn Tarnofsky, has ordered the famous American singer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to be jailed without bail as he awaits trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Diddy pleaded not guilty during the hearing.
The decision to deny bail followed a 14-page federal indictment, which accused Diddy of using his business empire to abuse, threaten, and traffic women for his sexual desires while protecting his reputation. Federal prosecutors alleged that Diddy, with the help of associates from Combs Enterprise, operated an enterprise involved in sex trafficking, arson, forced labor, and kidnapping, among other crimes.
Two of the three charges he faces carry a maximum sentence of life in prison, prompting prosecutors to request that he remain incarcerated until trial. In contrast, Diddy’s lawyers sought his release on a $50 million bond, proposing home detention with electronic monitoring.
