During a visit to Zeberced Limited Quarry, the largest quarry in West Africa, located in Abuja, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, expressed his amazement at the scale of its operations. He described the facility as a game-changer for the construction industry in the region.

Wike highlighted the potential for reduced construction costs in the FCT, noting that the abundance of raw materials should lower expenses, especially for road and infrastructure projects. “Ordinarily, the cost of construction ought not to be very expensive, particularly in the FCT,” Wike stated, emphasizing that raw materials like aggregates are sourced locally.

The quarry employs over 800 workers, contributing significantly to local job creation and economic growth. Wike also mentioned that Zeberced Ltd is leading the development of an industrial park at Idu, with full support from the FCT Administration. He revealed efforts to facilitate tax credits for the expansion of a single-carriage road to a double-carriage way, a project handled by Salini Construction Company.

While impressed with the quarry’s operations, Wike expressed concerns about environmental impact assessments, but was reassured that all compliance standards were met. He underscored the FCT Administration’s focus on industrial growth and local manufacturing to support infrastructure development.

Wike’s endorsement of Zeberced Ltd Quarry and the forthcoming industrial park at Idu aligns with the vision of President Bola Tinubu’s administration for economic growth and infrastructural development in the capital city.
