Hon. Dr. Kelly Inedegbor, Chairman of Esan North-East Local Government Area in Edo State, has secured an interim court injunction restraining the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and agents from arresting him.
The injunction, granted by Justice Igho Braimoh of the Edo State High Court, is pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Inedegbor’s counsel, Carrington Omokaro, filed the suit (B/229M/2024) seeking protection from arrest over alleged involvement in recent violent political activities.
The court ordered the IGP and agents to refrain from arresting, detaining, or infringing on Inedegbor’s right to personal liberty until the substantive application is heard.
The interim injunction is valid for 14 days, and the case has been adjourned to September 26, 2024.
The court directed that the IGP be put on notice.
