Mr. John Gabaya, Chairman of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has publicly praised the significant improvements in security within the district, attributing these advancements to robust government support.

Gabaya’s remarks came during a press briefing on Thursday in Bwari, Abuja, where he emphasized the administration’s ongoing dedication to ensuring the safety of residents and the broader FCT community.

Gabaya commended both President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, for their collaborative efforts in enhancing security within the council. He noted that a little over a year ago, Bwari was grappling with severe issues of kidnappings and criminal activities that instilled widespread fear among its residents.

“Over the past year, we have witnessed significant progress in our security situation,” Gabaya said. “One notable development has been the establishment of a new Police Divisional Headquarters in the Igu community, thanks to federal intervention. This crucial step has helped alleviate the fears of our residents and has allowed them to go about their daily activities with greater confidence.”

The establishment of the Police Divisional Headquarters is a key milestone, reflecting the government’s commitment to securing lives and property in the Bwari Area Council. Gabaya highlighted how this progress is not only remarkable but also indicative of the administration’s prioritization of public safety. “This development has been a game-changer for our community, providing the necessary reassurance for farmers, business owners, and other residents to pursue their livelihoods without constant fear,” he added.

In recognition of the ongoing efforts of security personnel, Gabaya has donated a Toyota Hilux vehicle to further enhance mobility and operational efficiency for the local police. This gesture underscores the council’s support for the law enforcement agencies working tirelessly to maintain peace and order.

Gabaya also offered prayers for continued divine protection over the people of Bwari, emphasizing the importance of sustained security efforts in fostering a stable and secure environment for all residents.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the inauguration of the Police Divisional Headquarters in Igu was carried out by Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Benneth Igweh, who oversees Zone 7 of the Police Force and is a former FCT Commissioner of Police. During the inauguration, AIG Igweh reaffirmed the police’s unwavering commitment to addressing insecurity and safeguarding lives and properties within the region.

Mr. Philip Jatau, a local resident, expressed his gratitude towards the council chairman and the FCT administration for their responsiveness to the community’s security concerns. “We are very pleased with the progress and the active measures taken to address our security issues,” Jatau said. “This newfound sense of safety means that our farmers can now work in peace, and we hope that the improvements continue.”
