Apple Lists More Than 250 New Features Coming with iOS 18

Apple has officially revealed the iPhone 16 series, set to launch with iOS 18, rolling out on September 16. This latest update is packed with over 250 features, bringing significant changes and enhancements to users. Apple has already highlighted many of the major updates, but its newly posted document on its website provides a detailed look at what to expect.

Key highlights of iOS 18 include:
– Apple Intelligence: New AI-powered features that enhance user experiences across apps (launching with iOS 18.1).
– Home Screen and Control Center customization: More options to personalise and organise.
– Revamped Photos app: Enhanced with new editing tools and smarter organisation.
– Messages app upgrades: New features to improve messaging, including better emoji suggestions and improved group chats.
– Passwords app: A standalone app that offers advanced password management and security.

Other notable features include:
– Home app improvements: Now supports Wi-Fi-based Matter accessories without the need for a home hub.
– CarPlay upgrade: Now supports Spatial Audio for compatible vehicles, improving sound quality for Apple Music and third-party apps.
– Weather app tweaks: Makes the “feels like” temperature easier to find and understand.
– Call recording and transcription: A new feature that allows users to record calls and have them transcribed.
– Live Voicemail expansion: Now available in multiple languages and regions, including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Portuguese.

While most features will be available with iOS 18, the Apple Intelligence tools won’t arrive until iOS 18.1, which is expected in October. Additionally, these AI-driven features will initially only support US English and will be available on select devices, including:
– iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
– iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max

Support for more languages and regions will come in 2025, but European Union users won’t have access to Apple Intelligence for now.

iOS 18 will be available for:
– iPhone 12 series and newer
– iPhone SE 3

How to Update to iOS 18
Once the update rolls out, follow these steps to install iOS 18:
1. Plug your iPhone into a power source and connect to Wi-Fi.
2. Open Settings.
3. Tap on General.
4. Select Software Update.
5. Tap Install Now or Download and Install, then enter your passcode if required.
