The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairmen has lauded the performance of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and praised the leadership of the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) under Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The forum expressed its support for the recent decision to extend the tenure of the caretaker committee of the Rivers State APC, led by Chief Tony Okocha.

At a press conference held on Thursday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, the Forum’s Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, and its Secretary, Alphonsus Ogar Eba Esq., emphasized their approval of the steps taken by the NWC. They noted that the decision to extend Chief Tony Okocha’s leadership in Rivers State had reinvigorated the party’s chapter in the state, bringing about significant improvements and stability.

The forum highlighted that the Rivers State Executive Committee’s suspension of the former leadership under Chief Emeka Beke was necessary, as it was affirmed by a court ruling in the state. As a result, the APC leaders agreed to send a formal letter of commendation to Ganduje in recognition of his firm commitment to supporting the progress of the Rivers State APC.

In his statement, the Secretary of the Forum, who also serves as the APC chairman in Cross River State, elaborated on the importance of Chief Tony Okocha’s role. “To the blind and deaf, the activities of Chief Tony Okocha’s executives in the past seven months have not only made Rivers State APC Chapter one of the most active, resilient, and vibrant chapters, but his dynamic leadership has revived the chapter from the doldrums and docility that once plagued the party’s politics in the state prior to the 2023 general elections.”

The forum commended the NWC for its decision and vowed to maintain open dialogue with party leaders to foster democratic values, build party cohesion, and resolve lingering issues across various state chapters.

Further, the forum expressed its profound appreciation for the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, who they described as a key figure in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They noted that Wike’s work in the FCT, especially his infrastructural development initiatives, security improvements, and contributions to human capital development, were highly commendable.

“The Forum wishes to use this medium to commend him and to express our deep appreciation and solidarity for his distinctive and excellent delivery as Honourable Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read. “His contributions are visible in every facet of the FCT, from infrastructure to security.”
