Famous American singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter has shared that fame can sometimes feel like a prison. In a GQ interview, the 43-year-old revealed that she now creates music at her own pace, focusing on innovation rather than perfectionism.
Beyoncé explained that she steps away from the public eye when she isn’t sharing her art because fame can be a burden. “I create at my own pace, working on things that I hope will touch other people. I aim to encourage others to explore their own creativity, strength, and resilience. My focus is on storytelling, growth, and quality. I’m not concerned with perfectionism but with evolution, innovation, and shifting perception,” she said.
Regarding her current projects, Beyoncé mentioned, “Working on the music for Cowboy Carter and launching this exciting new project feels nothing like a prison or a burden. I only work on what liberates me. Fame is what can feel like a prison at times. So, when you don’t see me on red carpets or when I disappear until I have art to share, that’s why.”
When asked about retirement plans, Beyoncé responded, “Good music and strong messages will never retire.”
