An accident involving two trucks in the Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State has reportedly claimed the life of a yet-to-be-identified man.
It was gathered that a mini-truck and an articulated one collided at Araga Bus stop, Poka Road, around 7pm on Monday.

In a statement made by Nosa Okunbor, the Head, Public Affairs Unit of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), on Tuesday, noted that the articulated truck was attempting to overtake the mini-truck, which resulted in the collision.
He said that the driver of the articulated truck sped off the scene after the incident.

According to him, “Following distress calls at 1907hrs via the 767/112 Toll-Free Lines, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated it’s Whale Response Team from Epe Base.

“Upon arrival of the Agency’s Response Team at the incident scene by 1922hrs, it was observed that a mini-truck, registration number unknown, laden with Dangote Cement was involved in an accident at the aforementioned carriage way.

“Further investigations by the LRT revealed that the said mini-truck, while approaching the abovementioned road, was involved in an accident when attempts by an unknown articulated truck to overtake it, resulted in a side collusion with the said mini-truck.

“Impact of the collusion reportedly resulted in the fall of one of the motor boys that sat on the cement at the back of the mini-truck, and the subsequent loss of his life, while the unknown articulated truck absconded the scene.

“Unfortunately, an adult male, one of the motor boys, (name withheld) lost his life in the accident.

“LRT has bagged remains of the victim and handed it over to Police Officers from Noforija Police Station led by an Inspector of Police. The bagged commodity has been taken to Epe General Hospital Morgue by the Police.”
