Grammy-nominated Afrobeats star Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, professionally known as Ayra Starr, has opened up about her experiences with love, revealing that she has never been in love.
In a recent interview with Dazed Magazine, the “Rush” singer shared that she has yet to experience romantic love and expressed a desire to do so.
Despite being labeled a “lover girl” and gracing the cover of the latest issue of the British magazine, Ayra Starr admitted that she has never been in a committed relationship.
“I want to fall in love,” Ayra Starr said. “I wrote ‘Lagos Love Story’ imagining what love might be like if I were in it. I consider myself a lover girl deep down, but I’m quite strong-headed about it. I’ve never truly been in love. I’ve had certain experiences – not situationships! – but I’ve never been in a fully committed relationship.”
She continued, “I’ve put myself out there and tried to see what’s possible, but I don’t think I’ve had the time. I’ve been working since I was 15, juggling modeling, university, and now touring.”
Reflecting on her current situation, she added, “I’m just enjoying myself as a girl. I’m like, let me sing to a cute boy today and see where it goes – why not?”
