Thousands of women have continued protesting in Taraba over the alleged imposition of Lois Emmanuel, a former Commissioner of Information and Reorientation, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) women’s leader. The demonstration, which started last week at the Jolly Nyame stadium, persisted on Friday as women voiced their dissatisfaction with her appointment.

The protesters, holding placards with various messages, claimed that Lois was imposed by certain party members and that she was not their chosen candidate. They called on the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to intervene promptly to avoid internal party conflict and ensure unity.

The women stressed that unless their concerns are addressed, they will continue protesting, stating, “We want the right thing to be done in time to save the party from collapsing and losing the 2027 general election in our dear state.”

PDP spokesperson, Andeta’rang Iremea, noted that the party will soon release an official statement regarding the ongoing protests. The protests also disrupted the state Congress when Lois was announced as the women’s leader by the Congress chairman.
