The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly rejected the recent increase in petrol price to around N1,000 per liter across the country.
In a statement issued in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba described the hike as thoughtless and ill-timed.
Ologunagba urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and reverse the fuel price increase to alleviate the socio-economic challenges facing Nigerians.
The party argued that citizens are already struggling with suffocating economic hardship and cannot bear the additional burden of higher fuel prices.
Ologunagba criticized the opaque management of the petroleum sector and persistent price hikes, which disregard the welfare of Nigerians.
He condemned the increase as anti-people, highlighting the widespread suffering and inability of millions to afford basic necessities due to the escalating cost of living.
The PDP demands immediate action to address the situation and provide relief to the Nigerian people.
